Thinking of possibly going to the Clocaenog or Brenig/Alwen stages this Sunday. Would prefer to avoid congestion and potential muddy car parks - prepared to walk 3kms+ if needed. Has anyone been before and can you offer any advice as to where to park the car and access via public footpaths?

Thanks - yes that's what I'd found though with a bit of extra effort was hoping to miss all the formal and potentially cut up parking plus find a potentially good viewing point accepting a bit of a yomp over the hills.

3km of walking will not be enough to get away from the crowds!

Have done many RAC/Wales Rallies and unfortunately Wales is just not big enough to contain the number of people/vehicles that come out for this event.

Best advice ..... arrive VERY, VERY early (3/4 hours before start at least) and don't worry about the mud and crowds - Parking anywhere near the stages is generally forbidden unless you use the official carparks (wasn't like this in the 'good old days') - park anywhere else and you stand a good chance of your car being towed away. the organisers now go to great lengths to prevent any access other than through the official routes and also try to ensure that spectators are generally in the same areas - the days of finding a 'back way in' with an OS map have long gone I am afraid - that used to be the best part for me!

Clocaenog is especially difficult as there are few access roads and any of the alternative roads will be closed.

If possible, it is better to pick one of the stages that is repeated as at least then you will see the cars twice.

Good luck if you do get out though
